Christina Nicastro

 

Hailing from the small town of Dunellen, New Jersey, Christina Nicastro began singing and performing at a young age. She attended William Paterson University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance. She made her opera debut as Pamina in The Magic Flute while at the university. After her undergraduate studies, Nicastro sang as a soloist for Gilbert & Sullivan: The Ballet as well as the Hershey Symphony Orchestra, performing Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 and “L'amour est un oiseau rebelle” from Bizet’s Carmen.  

Nicastro received her Master’s degree in Voice Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music where she studied with legendary soprano, Carol Vaness. She performed in numerous opera workshop scenes as well as opera choruses before making her role debut as Ellen Orford in Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes. Other notable performances at Indiana University include soloist work in Honegger’s King David and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass

Christina Nicastro now resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she has appeared with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra as a featured soloist in their Pops series concert Cirque Goes to the Movies under the baton of Maestro Jack Everly. She has also been featured in the symphony’s IPL’s Yuletide Celebration in 2018 and will be returning to the ensemble in the 2019 production. Nicastro has returned on multiple occasions to sing as the soprano soloist with the Choral Art Society of New Jersey, most recent being the performance of Vaughan William’s Dona nobis pacem.

When not performing, Nicastro enjoys teaching singers of all ages and genres in the Indianapolis area. She also enjoys creating visual art in various mediums, which she loves to share with her family and friends.
